Search for Local Nonprofits with PANO!

There are 80,000+ nonprofit organizations in Pennsylvania (causeiq.com) and 9,000+ in Philadelphia alone (inquirer.com), so it can be overwhelming to find a nonprofit organization that aligns with the social justice causes you are passionate about. Fortunately, there are a few resources you can use to help you narrow down your search.

PANO (Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations) is a statewide membership organization supporting thousands of nonprofits that serve millions of people in the Commonwealth. Use the filters on their member directory to search for organizations based on type (disability services, legal, advocacy, education, arts, environment, human rights, etc…) and go to their careers site to look for open roles.

No roles that you’re interested in? No internships posted? Reach out! Nonprofits always have a need for eager talent, so contact them and express your interest, passion, and skills. You may find a local nonprofit that has a mission directly related to your cause.

If you’re up for a summer internship at a nonprofit that is unpaid or underpaid, apply to the Career Center’s Summer Internship Grant. Applications open February 12, 2024 and close April 3, 2024 at 11:59pm.

As always, schedule an appointment with an Industry Advisor via Handshake to talk more about nonprofits, education, government, and social impact. Bennett Nesley and Christie Vuoto in the Career Center would love to meet you.
