Describe your law school search process. How did you know if a school was the right fit?
I thought about where I’d ideally like to live/ practice law and went through the law schools in that area.
How did you know you wanted to pursue law?
My main influence was my uncle who is now a lawyer. Growing up I wanted to be like him and then I decided I should pursue. While I was substitute teaching I also had another revelation. I was helping a student who was a war refugee from Ukraine. I saw him struggling to comprehend the questions so I decided to translate the whole test in Ukrainian for him. This confirmed that I like helping people but I wanted to help people on a bigger level.
What type of law are you interested in studying/what do you plan to do with your law degree?
Criminal law.
When it comes to applying to law school, what is your best piece of advice that you would like to pass on to students?
If you think that you have a low chance of getting into a law school, establish a connection with one of the admissions counselors. They are there to help you. I had one admissions counselor help me make my personal statement into the best version possible and I believe that is a very big factor into why I was accepted into the schools I was. In addition, while forming these connections with the admissions counselors, they will begin to see you for more than just your LSAT, GPA, and resume. They will see the real you. And if they are sold on the real you they will do all they can to fight on your behalf to get you into their law school; because they will want genuine and good people like yourself to be apart of their community.
