KPMG is shifting their recruiting timeline!

Students, Villanova’s Career Center and the O’Donnell Center in VSB received the below announcement from KPMG’s Heads of University Talent Acquisition. Please join us in thanking KPMG for making this important shift.

Based on your feedback and our commitment to a student‑first recruiting experience, KPMG LLP is planning a strategic shift to the accounting intern recruiting timeline.

What’s changing: You told us the recruiting timeline was too early. We listened. Rather than ask students to commit nearly two years before their internship begins, we’re planning to shift our accounting intern recruiting timeline back by one to two semesters, starting with a phased approach that transitions over the course of the next two academic years:

  • 2028 internships (both Winter and Summer): Recruiting will begin on a very limited basis in Fall 2026 with the bulk of the intern class being recruited in Spring 2027.  **
  • Winter 2029 internships: Recruiting will begin in January of the prior year (e.g., January 2028 for Winter 2029 interns).
  • Summer 2029 internships: Recruiting will begin in the fall before the internship year (e.g., Fall 2028 for Summer 2029 interns). **

Why this benefits students: This shift gives students more time to:

  • Build foundational course work,
  • Explore their interests before committing, and,
  • Enter the process more prepared.

It also opens additional pathways for transfer students, those who change their major, and those who discover accounting later in their academic journey.

How you can help: Please share this update with students so they understand the change. While students will see limited KPMG postings for 2028 accounting interns in Fall 2026, encourage them to hold off on applying until the spring if they need more time to prepare or feel confident of their career preferences.

Competitive landscape: The recruiting timeline became increasingly compressed as firms competed for talent earlier each season. We are doing this in a phased approach to ensure we remain competitive and to give sufficient time for students and faculty to adjust to the new timeline. Ultimately, we believe our proposed timeline shift is best for the students, but if it puts us at a competitive disadvantage for attracting top talent, we may have to revert to our current schedule. Should that happen, we will communicate updates as soon as determined.
