East Village Bookshop is seeking a creative and design-minded student to help bring books, authors, and community events to life through visual storytelling.
This paid internship is ideal for students interested in graphic design, marketing, communications, publishing, photography, or social media. The intern will help create promotional materials for author events, book clubs, seasonal campaigns, and bookstore programs while contributing to East Village Bookshop’s visual identity.
This is an opportunity to build a professional portfolio while working in a vibrant independent bookstore environment.
Responsibilities –
• Design Instagram posts, stories, and event graphics in Canva
• Create promotional materials for author events and community programs
• Photograph books, displays, and bookstore events
• Assist with content planning and scheduling
• Create signage and in-store promotional materials
• Help maintain a consistent visual brand across social media, email, and print
• Brainstorm creative campaigns for book launches, holidays, and seasonal displays
• Assist with occasional video and reel creation
Preferred Qualifications –
- Strong Canva skills
- Interest in books, publishing, or independent bookstores
- Good visual taste and typography skills
- Comfortable taking photos and short videos
- Organized and reliable
- Portfolio encouraged but not required
Flexible 5–8 hours per week
Location: Sacramento, CA (primarily Midtown location)
Schedule: Flexible around class schedules
