The Summer III performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the academic programs and/or orientation, and where the individual has demonstrated competence to a designated RN. The functions are those limited by law to unlicensed personnel.

Once accepted into the Summer III Nursing Internship program, student interns will be required to apply for a Summer Intern Course at a University or College within Minnesota for the duration of the internship in order to participate in the SNI Program (see scope of practice).

The Junior Year of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). To be considered for this role, candidates must be graduating between December 2025 and June 2026 (Junior or Senior of Nursing School)
The third semester of nursing curriculum at Rochester Community and Technical College.
The Summer III Employment Opportunity will begin on 6/2/2025, and end on 8/8/2025. Applicants MUST BE ABLE TO COMPLETE TEN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS OF EMPLOYMENT.
Current in basic life support (BCLS) from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association (must not expire during the duration of the internship).

3. NURSING INTEREST AREAS. Create a one-page word document numbered 1-10, using the below list of department options and place each area next to your preference number. Number 1 being your highest preference. Include any additional comments that would assist us in determining your preferred areas.

Qualifications
The completion of the junior year of a baccalaureate nursing program, or completion of the third semester of nursing at Rochester Community & Technical College. Successful experiences in clinical areas as described in instructor references to perform the functions which are within this job description. Able to complete ten consecutive weeks of employment.
Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting and deal with stress caused by the care of patients. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
