How to Leverage Campus Resources as an International Student

Some of this work was originally published on Interstride.com

Finding and maximizing campus resources can be a daunting task for any student, and even more so for international students. American college life requires students to be proactive. While every campus is different, there is a plethora of resources available at Villanova to international students. It’s up to you to find, take advantage, and piece them together. In the United States, as opposed to many other countries, your school or major has a large influence on the groups you join, the friends you make, or even the spaces you spend the most time in.

As an international student, many of these resources can help you to create a valuable support network and ensure your success before, during, and after your studies. Some common types of resources you can leverage at colleges and universities include career services, student organizations, advising offices, and more. This guide will help you find and leverage these resources, and set you up for success as an international student.

Academic Advising Centers

Academic Advisors are staff and faculty members that can be helpful in answering questions about your course of study, class selection, and relevant opportunities in your area of study that aligns with your career aspirations.
